Caring for your Teldrassil Sproutling
Meet Mini Me!!! I finally got the little pet that I’ve been drooling over ever since MMO Champion posted the pics of the Argent Tournament pets! I have to thank my readers for offering so much good advice about jousting, and I mostly have to thank Hummy for all of his help!!! I’m tickled to death to have my very own baby tree! Maybe it’s the Mommy in me. At any rate, I want to warn all of you out there working on this pet that it needs some special attention.
The first thing that you should know about your baby tree is that growing is hard work! In a manner that I can only describe as “entlike,” you will find that your little tree falls asleep. A lot.
In this screenshot I have actually fallen asleep waiting for my sproutling to wake up. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. (How is it that I can never resist going there with the tree jokes?) At any rate, the good news is that even when your lil fella falls asleep, if you go far enough away from it, it will wake up and run after you!
The other thing you should know about your little tree is that sometimes it will get the joy, joy, joy, joy down in it’s heart and… burst into dance!!! If I wasn’t in love already with this pet, that would most certainly have done it. The best thing you can possibly do, of course, when this happens is to drop whatever you are doing and join right in. =)
Other tips:
- avoid players who wield axes. If your baby tree becomes too frightened it will shed all its leaves and come to believe that its future largely involves becoming a table leg somewhere.
- Beware of critters in the world. While they may certainly have never seemed threatening to you in the past, they would like nothing more than to go around behind your Teldrassil Sproutling, raise a leg, and water it.
- Beware the cuteness factor of this pet. Only take it out when you are sure that being distracted by it will not cause a raid wipe.
- Try not to lord it over other classes who can’t have a Mini Me too much. It’s not their fault that they are just not as inherently cool as we are.
- Take your other pets out once every couple of years or so, just so that they don’t get so dusty that your bags become an allergy hotspot for you when reaching in to take out your baby tree!
- Have fun! =)
Edit: I realized I hadn’t named this wonderful little pet. I’m going to call her Splinter. =)

That’s awesome. I’m still no where close to having it, since I sacrificed my solo play time the last 2 weeks of my semester. Now that my classes are over, I’m going to work harder at getting through all that stuff to get my tree pet!

I want one soooooooooo badly! I need to find me an alliance to pair up with for horde/alliance pet exchanges =) I have the thunderbluff pet, but I’m not sure what all his tricks are yet. I DO know that the scorpian the trolls get runs around “stinging” you when it gets angry,!!!

Haha, sweet! I thought the little mechanostrider you can get from the Gnomes looks pretty cool. Still haven’t decided what I want though, 75 marks so far.

Regarding your other pets, I’ve been playing with Livestock addon recently. It creates macros for random land mounts, flying mounts and critters, but you can set your favorite too and just right-click the macro. I used to have 7/8 tooltips for my various favorite mounts/pets, and this freed up some toolbar space for me

and @Baruthiel, I so want to find a horde to pair up with for the horde-specific pets as well. /sigh
I got mine a couple of nights ago–named her Syd Junior, of course, because I’m egotistical like that. Now, if only they will let me update my model to be purple too…
