Any article I read on doing the healing lead position is always written 10 x more complicated then it actually is cause its written for people who may have no interest or knowledge of healing.
Dont let one little slip up make you question your judgement. If you are feeling down because of RL (and you have every right to be) step back for a little while. Maybe though you will find that the distraction of doing it will help clear you up?
Healing lead is not hard if you know your healers. You have healed with them enough you know their styles. Are they the kind that tries to heal everyone regardless of assignment? Put them on raid healing. Do you have a heavy hitter who likes to be where the action is? Put them on the tank. Do you have a professional who tries to refine their abilities? Put them on the emergency jobs that need quick heals and also back up on the tank.
All healers have a different play style, recognize it and get it to work for you. When you try and force players into roles they arent used to is when you start herding cats.
Good luck.

Anytime that you are feeling like you are someplace else, I think that it is certainly appropriate to ask to not have a certain thing tasked to you (i.e. healing lead). I think that everyone would appreciate your honesty and understand that your request is not because you don't want to do it, but because right now you might not be the best person for it, due to other reasons. As a raid leader, I certainly know that I appreciate when someone shoots me a tell letting me know that their head isn't 100% here. It lets me know that I should assign them to things that perhaps don't require as much attention to detail as others do.

I'm certain that nobody would look down on you for wanting a more stress free raid night all things considered.

And yes, I do think that you should raid. It is something to take your mind AWAY from everything. You will have plenty of time to stress over the lay off. Doing things to take your mind off of it when you can is good!

And, I will leave with this final piece of advice: Chocolate solves all problems ;)

Well, I'm guessing it's some time after the raid start. But knowing you, and what you're capable of, and your sometimes over-modest attitude. I think you'll do/did fine. Accept the lead and do your best. It's better than the chaos and your best is more than adequate in my experience. Go get 'em tiger, etc.
