Death Knight Healing Guide Is Up!

deathknightprint

I’ve posted here a couple times to let you know that I had a series of posts in the works on healing the different tank classes.  For each tanking class I have interviewed several tanks, both tanks I know and tanks that you might know from their Warcraft blogs.  I’m thrilled to let you know that the first of these guides has gone live today.  You’ll find it at:  Tank Triage:  Healing Death Knights.  Many, many thanks to  Shopshopshop, from Runeforge Gossip, Durithim, from Rhin’s Blogspot, and Eeggor from my own guild, Legio Vici of Duskwood.  If other Death Knights visit the page and wish to add to the conversation, they are quite welcome to do so by posting answers to any or all of the questions in the comment section of this post.  Enjoy!

A great read on the DK tank. Speaking as a completely biased resto druid – I love healing DK tanks!! I suppose it helps to have the DK tank of choice, be the BF sitting directly across from me, when I’m healing. So if things seem to be going south in the raid/dungeon, we are able to communicate in real time. [‘got you’ and he knows heals are incoming, or the ‘oh, sh*t’ and he blows his OS CDs to try and give me that split second(s) to do my job.] =)

The most noticeable dilemma I find when healing a DK tank, is the inconsistent damage that they generally take. Having the understanding that a DK doesn’t have a shield (and I personally don’t want them to ever have one – I think it makes the class truly unique and separates the good from the poor) so they stack parry/dodge, it can take some time to get used to monitoring that incoming damage to adjust the HoTs/heals as necessary.

I do agree with your DKs that healers do tend to be on the quiet side. I notice when I’m healing a pug situation, I tend to come into a dungeon, do my job and leave. Even if I notice the tank having difficulties – either the dps won’t let the tank get agro, the tank is taking a ton of spike damage, etc. – I just heal harder and don’t speak up. The reason for this is simple; there are too many poor players out there that don’t understand what constructive criticism is and they, unfortunately, are the ones also blaming any and all wipes on the healer. >.<

I look forward to the rest of the tank talks.
