Sylly hits the PTR: Diary of a Test Tube Baby
I have never been on the PTR before this morning. Not for any patch. Ever. But I thought I would give it a whirl since I’m not working at the moment and have more time on my hands than I usually would.
I have some plans. I hope to heal some raid instances and report back here my impressions of the changes to Resto Druids in the upcoming patch, of course. I want to check out the new Argent Tournament dailies and see the colliseum with my own eyes. But first I have to be able to get onto the PTR and stay there. I was on for all of 4 minutes this morning before the lag spike from hell crashed not only my game but my computer. But WOW! What a four minutes that was!!!
9:09 a.m. PTR client and subsequent updates and patches finally finished up! Woot! I can log on!
9:09 a.m. Logged onto the PTR only to find that Syll couldn’t keep her name. Tried Sylly, but it was taken. Settled on Syllysyll and entered the game.
9:09 a.m. Found myself at the COT entrance in Tanaris because on the live servers I’m still out in that part of the world farming Cenarian Circle rep. Realized with horror that I had the Blizzard default UI going on. Must find out if I can use addons in the PTR. If not, I think I’ll have to stick to healing raids that I outgear or something. Can’t see me being at the top of my game with the Blizz default UI.
9:10 a.m. Changed into… mah new kitteh form! =) Played around as kitty and bear, dancing, running, cavorting. I agree with others who say that these forms are better live. The NE kitty and bear look so… vacant in still shots. I think it’s because the eyes don’t have pupils or irises, just that white blankness. But in an animated, moving animal form, this creepy vacancy vanishes. Took no screenshots because I expected to be on longer than 4 minutes.
9:12 a.m. Ported to Dalaran in order to fly up to the Argent Tourney and take a look around.
9:12 a.m. Saw someone advertise that they were looking for heals for 10 man OS. Considered joining but remembered the default UI situation and thought I’d better drink some coffee or something before trying to heal under those circumstances.
9:13 a.m. Left inn in Dalaran. Got to the mailbox. Opened it up.
9:13 a.m. Hit by collosal lag spike that killed my game, my connection, and my computer. Had to do a hard restart.
Four minutes. lol! Good Times!
I’ll give it another roll later on today and hopefully will have some more playtime and more things of interest to report here on the blog. I’ll try to keep an ongoing report of anything I think might be relevant. If there is anything any of you want me to try out, let me know and I’ll do my best to test it out for you!

I am traveling for work this week, which means everything is a bit hectic, and raiding on the laptop is a bit clunky =)
Remember…DO NOT TAKE CANDY FROM STRANGERS! The PTR may look the same as your realm, but you never know who might spike your honeymint tea! =)

I have to say this is my 2nd time ever that I’ve ventured onto PTR, and after hearing the good news for those people who don’t have much time as some hardcore people, they’re making it easier to actually get some tier sets! How cool is that?
Of course, not everyone would be happy with this, but I certainly am!
I too am in the same boat as yourself. I am currently not working, so I’m actually back into playing WoW a lot more often.
